Thank you to everyone who joined us for the Clarksburg Neighbors Alliance (CNA) meeting last Thursday—and a special note to those who couldn’t make it: we missed you and hope to see you next time!

It was inspiring to connect with neighbors who are deeply engaged in advocating for our town and to take a moment to celebrate the incredible progress we’ve made over the last six months, including:

  • Mobilizing our community to speak up about M83 and the urgent need for improved transportation options in Clarksburg.

  • Making a name for ourselves at the county level—CNA is now recognized and respected.

  • Kicking off our Asset Map project to highlight the strengths and resources already present in Clarksburg.

  • Launching our CNA website: www.clarksburgneighborsalliance.com, where the Asset Map lives and continues to grow.

We also proudly unveiled our new slogan for the year:

“One Clarksburg. Infinite Possibilities.”
You’ll now see it featured throughout our site and materials.

Focus Group Updates & Ways to Get Involved

At the meeting, we split into three work groups—Transportation, Community Building, and Recreation—to dive into actionable next steps:

Transportation Focus Area
  • Update communication strategies from the fall to align with the Full Council Public Testimony on July 8.

  • Create updated talking points and email templates for residents.

  • Restart the email campaign to encourage public testimony and engagement.

  • Testimony sign-ups for July 8 open May 27 at 9:00 AM

Community Building Focus Area
  • Create a survey to find out what residents value, participate in, or are excited about in terms of community engagement.

  • Identify one big idea for the community to rally around.

Recreation Focus Area
  • Explore funding options (both public and private) for a new Clarksburg Rec Center.

  • Seek business partnerships—do you know anyone at Thales or other local companies that might support this vision?

  • Consult with Marilyn on how to move through the county process.

New Learning Opportunity – Strong Towns Summer Cohort

We’re launching a CNA cohort to participate in the Strong Towns online course: https://academy.strongtowns.org/p/principles-of-a-strong-town

This four-part, self-paced course explores:

  • The financial crisis facing America's towns

  • Why it happened (and why it’s not your fault)

  • How to rebuild strong, resilient communities using a proven framework

You’ll complete the modules on your own time, and we’ll gather via Zoom throughout the summer to discuss how the content applies to Clarksburg.

Want to join the cohort? Email Beth Wolff at bethwolff@clarksburgchurch.com

Next CNA Meeting:

We’ll meet again in late summer, once we have dates for the upcoming Gateway Center planning sessions. Stay tuned!

Thank you again for your passion, your voice, and your commitment to our shared future. Together, we are building something truly powerful.

Clarksburg, stay united!
